About the Game

Mario's style has evolved throughout his many adventures and challenges. This blocky, classic look harkens back to his design in the original Super Mario Bros.™ game that launched for the Nintendo Entertainment System™ in 1985. His iconic red overalls and brownish shirt represent the classic colour scheme used in the original game.

About the Game

Super Mario Maker

It’s easy enough to create your own levels with the Wii U GamePad that it may feel like you’re simply sketching out your ideas on paper, but you can now bring enemies and objects into a playable course in ways you could only dream of before.

Play a near-limitless number of Super Mario levels created by Nintendo and players around the world. Create your own Mario levels by using the Wii U GamePad touch screen to add enemies, blocks, pipes and more. Break the conventions of traditional Super Mario gameplay by blending enemies, traps and items into unexpected twists, like Piranha Plant-shooting cannons, power-up-tossing Lakitus, or even Hammer Bros. riding on Bowser while bouncing on trampolines.

Touch control, instant editing and a robust online ranking and search system makes creating, playing and sharing a seamless process. Switch between four distinct themes, each with different art styles and features: Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and New Super Mario Bros. U.

Transform into different characters at random with the new Mystery Mushroom item. Expand the roster of possible characters by completing 100 Mario Challenge mode or tapping compatible amiibo. Tap a 30th Anniversary Mario amiibo figure to the Wii U GamePad to add a Big Mushroom power-up to your course!

Product is great! Box it came in got bashed in the post though, arrived with a big gash in it. Luckily, Mario inside wasn’t damaged!

In terms of design, this is awesome. The classic mario and his nostalgic green tube definitely meets expectation. I love how detailed this amiibo is, and when you look at it at different angles, different aspects of the design grab your attention. It's awesome how they've managed to blend the 2D awesomeness we all remember with a three-dimensional presentation of Mario.

One thing that sucks though, is how useless the amiibo functionality of it is. I mean, it connected instantaneously with my DS, but there's next to no unlocked features and nothing even showed up on my screen

I am very happy with the amiibo.
Cool design I retro MARIO.
Just a bit unhappy that online it is stated that it can be used on MARIO maker to unlock extra content.

But isn’t really stated clearly anywhere that it can not be used with the 3ds version I the game.

Which is why I got it for my son who was quite sad when he had realised he had wasted some of his Christmas money on something he cannot use how he wanted to.

This is must-have for Nintendo fans captures the classic joy of playing Mario.

Nostalgia is a factor, but the Amiibo is also simply very nicely designed with its blocky aesthetics.
