- Problem here was on the Nintendo 3DS the miniature USB socket connection became unreliable on charge. Nintendo are not alone here. I have lost 2 external USB drives and a scanner to the same problem. Either the sockets are edge mounted on the circuit board and break away or the metal surround deforms over time so the cable is a loose fit. Nintendo and other manufacturers should get together to design a usb connector that fixes the problem. A good start would be Apple's lightning connector and this has never given me problems and you can see from the design why.
Even with a new connector it's going to work loose again with repeated plugging and unplugging, which is going to happen a lot with a portable device.
I fixed the problem by buying one of these.
After fitting the connection to the Nintendo is via a couple of flat plates on the back so nothing to go wrong here.
Ok you say the cradle is self still has the same micro USB connector with the same problems. But
1. You can leave it plugged in when you take your Nintendo on the road so no fatiguing here.
2. You get a battery with nearly double the life so less plugging here.
3. If it goes wrong you can buy another for £5.97
Well you could but it's unavailable now.
Nintendo I seriously think you should implement a similar solution.
I would buy it.
